NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) and Reserve Bank of India have announced new digital payment features. With this new feature, users will now be able to make UPI payments without entering their PIN number. Earlier, users had to enter their PIN number to make UPI payments, but now they will be able to make payments using biometrics. This feature will soon be added to digital payment apps like GooglePay, PhonePe and Paytm.

Payment Limits

Users will be able to use their face or fingerprint instead of PIN to make payments. Users will also be able to make UPI payments by showing their face. However, there is a limit for transactions using this feature. NPCI has set the UPI payment limit for the biometric feature to Rs 5,000. That is, users will be able to make UPI payments only up to Rs 5,000 using the biometric feature. This feature will be useful for small transactions at present. This feature eliminates the need to enter a PIN to make frequent payments.

How will this feature work?

  • This UPI feature will be launched soon. Once this feature is launched, users will have to open their app like GooglePay, PhonePe or Paytm.
  • Then they will have to go to the contact number or QR code option to make the payment.After this, they will have to type the amount to be paid. After that, you will have to select the bank from which you want to make the payment.
  • After that, you will see a screen to enter the UPI PIN number. Users will also see a biometric option along with it.
  • By selecting this option, you will be able to make UPI payments with the help of your face or fingerprint.
  • This feature will verify the biometric details of your Aadhaar card… such as facial expressions, retina scan and fingerprints…
  • After this, your payment will be completed as soon as it is verified.
